Once again, in 2024 we’ve decided to support our colleague and his love for pétanque. For ten years now, our colleague has been playing for PC Sokol Velim, an amateur pétanque association.
One of the highlights of this year’s season was the aptly named tournament “Cyril and Methodius Boules 2024”, which was held on 6 July 2024. The tournament also featured a leading player from the Czech Association of Pétanque Clubs (ČAPEK), Petr Fafek, ranked as the eighth-best player in the Czech Republic.
The tournament attracted a great deal of interest, with a total of 19 pairs competing. Although it was an amateur tournament, the participants battled it out tooth and nail and brought no end of enthusiasm and competitive spirit to the game. The lucky winners went away with small prizes, some of which were also donated by our company, Fastra, s.r.o.
First place was taken by husband and wife duo Petr Fafek and Jana Fafková.
Jaromír Vlach and Jiří Škarvada came second, while the third spot was taken by Martin Škopek and Vojtěch Černý.
It is admirable that in today's fast-paced world, there are still people amongst us who want to enjoy their hobbies and have a great time whatever the weather. It is also worth mentioning the performance given by Alena Pražáková, who is still an active player at the impressive age of 90, and her team ended up with a very commendable result.
We're proud to be able to support our colleagues in their hobbies and play a part in promoting a thriving community life. We look forward to other such competitions and successful performances by our colleagues in years to come.
