FASTRA technicians carried out a specialized intervention on the gas infrastructure in the Polish city of Tychy 🇵🇱. The project was part of a road reconstruction scheme and the associated modernization of the gas distribution network.
Preparation for Installation of New Valves
As part of the project, it was necessary to prepare conditions for the installation of new shut-off valves on two separate sections of the main PE gas pipeline d225. These sections were located approximately 300 meters apart.
To allow the removal of sections of the existing pipeline and the subsequent installation of new pipe assemblies equipped with valves (performed by the project contractor), it was first necessary to temporarily stop the gas flow in the affected sections.
Double-Sided Stoppling of the PE Gas Pipeline d225
Our technicians performed double-sided stoppling of the PE gas pipeline d225 at an operating pressure of 3 bar, enabling the safe isolation of the designated pipeline sections for the subsequent cut-outs.
Subsequent Work Performed by the Contractor
After the stoppling operation, the following activities were carried out:
- cutting out sections of the pipeline
- installing new pipe assemblies equipped with valves
- reconnecting the pipeline and completing the modifications
These activities were performed by the project contractor.
FASTRA's Role
FASTRA's scope of work was exclusively focused on:
- safe shut-off of the pressurized pipeline
- creating safe working conditions for subsequent operations
- ensuring uninterrupted operation of the remaining distribution network
Project Execution
The work carried out by our technicians lasted two days and was successfully completed in accordance with project requirements and safety standards.
Conclusion
Pipeline stoppling once again demonstrated its key role in the modernization of gas infrastructure, where technical interventions must be performed without interrupting gas supply.
We thank our client for their trust and for the opportunity to participate in international projects.
