Children's home in Zruč
Children's Home in Zruč nad Sázavou with a capacity for 32 children, whose number fluctuates slightly during the year, mainly from the Central Bohemian region. It is a family-type facility in the middle of residential area, among family houses, with a garden, and near the centre of new Zruč. The children are in 4 co-educated family groups ranging from infants to adults who are completing their education and are here on a voluntary- based contract with the institution.
Each group has fully equipped rooms with double bedrooms, clubhouse and dining room with kitchenette, where children cook at the weekends with the caregiver. Although it initially seemed to us that placing underage mothers with their children in normal children’s home, among other children with institutional care, could be very problematic, we already have a lot of practical experience and they are mostly positive. Number of very young girls-mothers, whom we have helped in raising their children since birth, has already spent some time here. Our team of educators and other staff, including a nurse, a paediatric nurse and a diet nurse, is already an experienced "bunch" which can easily cope with the issue of underage mothers. We have not only the staff needed, but also suitable premises in which these mothers can keep their small household, even though they are part of a family group. Our facility has recently gradually provided asylum and care to several underage mothers with their children from virtually the entire country, such as from distant Bruntál or Strakonice districts. Unfortunately, after the transition from institutional education to common life, it is not always possible for such a mother to create such conditions so that she is able to take care not only of herself but also of her child. So some of the children of young, originally underage mothers, who are brought up from the "cradle", remain here even after their mother departs.
