FASTRA's Non-Shutdown Technology Helped Maintain Gas Infrastructure Operations
When working on operating pipeline systems, it is always essential to find a solution that enables the required work to be carried out safely while minimizing the impact on ongoing operations.
One of the technologies that meets these requirements is pipeline stoppling. FASTRA has been using this method for many years on gas and industrial pipeline systems while also developing and manufacturing its own equipment for carrying out this technology.
Stoppling as Part of Modern Pipeline Maintenance
In practice, stoppling makes it possible to perform repairs, reconstructions, and other interventions without the need to completely shut down the pipeline system.
The main advantage of this technology is the ability to maintain system operation while minimizing the impact on customers. Maintaining the continuity of supply is one of the key requirements for critical infrastructure.
Stoppling of a DN500 High-Pressure Gas Pipeline in Prague
FASTRA carried out the stoppling of a DN500 high-pressure (HP) gas pipeline operating at a pressure of 24 bar in Prague.
The project utilized the STOPL-S4-F1 DN500 PN40 equipment, developed and manufactured by FASTRA.
The work also included the installation of a DN50 hose bypass, which ensured the required operating conditions throughout the intervention. This made it possible to safely isolate part of the pipeline system and create space for the subsequent work.
The weld repairs and subsequent pipeline re-insulation were carried out by Revis.
Maintaining Gas Supply to Three Municipalities
One of the key achievements of the project was maintaining the natural gas supply without the need for a shutdown.
Thanks to the non-shutdown technology, gas supply to three municipalities was maintained without interruption, and customers experienced no service limitations during the work.
Situations like these clearly demonstrate the importance of non-shutdown technologies—they make it possible to carry out essential work on infrastructure while keeping it fully operational.
