FASTRA Pushes the Limits of Its Possibilities
FASTRA, s.r.o. once again pushed the limits of its possibilities in the area of temporary plugging of pipelines. Our company was asked by ArcelorMittal Poland, Dąbrowa Górnicza if we could temporarily seal a steel pipeline with the diameter of 3,340 mm and brick lining, which is about 50 m long. It is sloped and found 50 - 100 m above the ground. Dangerous, poisonous furnace gases below 100 °C are expected in the pipeline and its temporary plugging is planned to speed up the technology repair.
Our experts have designed a special seal design including the selection of the most suitable material. At the same time, we prepared a proposal for the placement and the work process.
A special seal with the diameter of 3,350 mm and a length of 5,000 mm was made, equipped with a specially designed clamping mechanism on both sides and two filling points.
The pipeline plugging, using the FASTRA special seal took place from 25th to 28th September 2018, while the actual closing, including the installation, placement and pressurizing of the seal took three of our technicians less than two hours.
